Curran & Gallagher Reunited for Donegal U21s

Posted by David Keane in News | Oct 2013

Former Donegal selectors Maxi Curran and Rory Gallagher, whose services were deemed surplus to requirements at senior level for 2014, have been reunited as part of the county’s U21 setup.

Having formed a vital part of Jim McGuinness’s backroom team since his appointment as manager of the Tyrconnell men, it came as something of a surprise when it was announced that he was parting ways with the pair for the coming season.

Just weeks on, however, and it seems the two men are back in favour with the County Board. Curran was ratified as U21 manager for 2014 on Monday night and he wasted no time in getting Fermanagh native Gallagher on board with him. Gallagher, who was linked with the vacant Fermanagh and Antrim jobs over the past few weeks, will act as Curran’s assistant.

With Donegal’s last provincial success at the grade coming under the stewardship of Jim McGuinness in 2010, Curran and Gallagher will be hoping to make an impact on the Ulster Championship this season, with Fermanagh first up in the quarter-final.
