Review of last week’s action

Halleluiah! If two weeks ago was sickening, then last weekend was sweet!

Kerry’s 4 point winning margin was just enough for the Proper Punter to grab a 10 unit win – we backed Kerry -3points on the handicap at 5/6. Again, the price moved to 8/11 pre-match, which only serves to indicate that the Proper Punter was on the ball for spotting value! Tyrone were impressive, and in some ways Kerry were even more impressive – when the pressure came on, they did not panic, they just added point after point with little fuss. They showed the sign of a class side.

Our Current balance is -7 units, and Barney is feeling very confident coming into this weekend. Dublin owe us one, and it’s time we got our account in the black for summer 2015.

GAA All Ireland Senior Football Championship Semi Final

Dublin v Mayo, Croke Park – Sunday, 3.30pm

Here is the form guide:

Dublin 4-25 Longford 0-10 (Leinster quarter-final)
Dublin 5-18 Kildare 0-14 (Leinster semi-final)
Dublin 2-13 Westmeath 0-6 (Leinster final)
Dublin 2-23 Fermanagh 2-15 (All-Ireland quarter-final)

That is an average winning margin of 19 points! That’s right 19!

Mayo 1-15 Galway 2-8 (Connacht semi-final)
Mayo 6-25 Sligo 2-11 (Connacht final)
Mayo 2-13 Donegal 0-11 (All-Ireland quarter-final)

That’s an average winning margin of 13 points.

Recent Championship Meetings:
2013: Dublin 2-12 Mayo 1-14 (All-Ireland final)
2012: Mayo 0-19 Dublin 0-16 (All-Ireland semi-final)

To be honest, I don’t really care about recent Championship meetings. Mayo are a decent side, and Jim Gavin’s observation about Aidan O’Shea being the best player around is not far wrong. But they are not as good as Dublin. The Dubs got burned at this stage last year, and they will not let that happen again. Jim Gavin is a super coach. Dublin are a super team. They have pace, skill, and squad depth. The only question mark about the Dubs is the top two inches, and I don’t doubt but that Jim Gavin will have his charges in the right headspace for this. God knows, they haven’t had much else to prepare for this year. Dublin will be ready for this and I expect them to win by a handful of points. Amazingly, at the moment, Ladbrokes are offering Dublin -1 at 5/6.

Warning: this price will not last long!

Recommendation: 12 units Dublin -1 point at 4/5 Betfair
