Galway V Tipp Semi 2015

Review of last week’s action

BOOM! The Proper Punter has made it three profitable weekends in a row. Our current balance for the summer is -7units.

Hindsight is perfect vision, or so the saying goes, but Paddy Power’s offer of 5/6 on Mayo to beat Donegal early last week was a serious bargain. The same bookmaker offered 10/11 on the Cats ht/ft, which was very generous too, and the price didn’t last long either. As predicted, Monaghan against Tyrone was not an easy selection. The controversial talking points from the game have only added to what has been a dour season of both football and hurling, and the number of quality games across both codes can be counted on one hand.

Hopefully this weekend can produce some fireworks, and some cash for the Proper Punter. As we reach the semi finals, there is only one big game each weekend from now so there is no room for error.

GAA All Ireland Senior Hurling Championship Semi Final

Tipperary v Galway, Sunday 3.30pm GAA HQ

First to the stats… Galway have played a total of five games to get to this point against Tipp’s two games. Here are the paths both teams have taken:

Galway
Galway 1-17 Dublin 0-20 (Leinster quarter-final)

Galway 5-19 Dublin 1-18 (Leinster quarter-final) Replay Galway 3-28 Laois 1-14 (Leinster semi-final)

Kilkenny 1-25 Galway 2-15 (Leinster final)

Galway 2-28 Cork 0-22 (All-Ireland quarter-final)

Tipperary
Tipperary 4-23 Limerick 1-16 (Munster semi-final)
Tipperary 0-21 Waterford 0-16 (Munster final)

Perhaps the more relevant stats are the two most recent meetings between the sides in the Championship:

2014: Tipperary 3-25 Galway 4-13 (All-Ireland qualifier)
2010: Tipperary 3-17 Galway 3-16 (All-Ireland quarter-final)

Galway are currently best price @ 7/1 to win the All Ireland compared to Tipp @ 2/1. For this fixture, Tipp have been given a 3 point handicap across all bookies and it’s hard to argue with that.

I’m very interested in the Total Points Market. The weather forecast, at the moment, is good, and unlike Kilkenny’s win over Waterford I expect this match to be attacking, free flowing, and have lots of goals.

Recommendation: 10 points Over 51.5 @11/10 SkyBet or PaddyPower
