Review of last week’s action

Last week was another positive week for the Proper Punter. Donegal did the business, but not without a scare against Galway. Thankfully Kerry made a mess of Kildare. Unfortunately the Dubs let us down, but I am confident of making some coin from the boys in blue later this month. The current balance is – 14 but we can approach this weekend with some optimism aiming to achieve three profitable weekends in a row.

This weekend action presents three potentially tight and fascinating games. First to the football….

GAA All Ireland Senior Football Championship Quarter Finals

Mayo v Donegal

Donegal have been poor each time I have watched them this summer. There is nothing to suggest they are going to pull off a big win against a talented if not somewhat limited Mayo side. It is easy to make a Proper Punt on this game.

Recommendation: 6 points Back Mayo at 5/6 to win.

Monaghan v Tyrone

Anyone fancy calling a clear winner on this one? I don’t! It feels like Tyrone have been playing every weekend this summer and like Monaghan have only played once! I expect this game to be defensive, low scoring and tight. Barney is backing the draw @15/2 in any local bookmaker.

Recommendation: 2 points Monaghan v Tyrone Draw at 15/2.

GAA All Ireland Hurling Championship Semi Final

Kilkenny v Waterford

Waterford are one of the success stories of 2015. With the league in their back pocket, they have carried their form through to the championship to beat Cork, lose narrowly to Tipp and then defeat Dublin. Kilkenny have barely been tested yet this year. However, when questions were asked they disposed of a talented Galway side relatively easily in the Leinster final.

In my opinion, Waterford have a chance to win this game, but I just can’t see it happening. Paddy Power are offering Kilkenny to lead at half time and win the game at 10/11. This is the value bet.

Recommendation: 4 points Kilkenny Ht/ft @ 10/11 paddy power.
