Proper Punter introduces Barney’s Bets Week 10

Posted by Barney's Bets in The Proper Punter | Sep 2015

Review of last week’s action

At 5.10pm last Sunday the Proper Punter was counting his chickens. I could almost reach out and touch the profit. Alas, the dream ended abruptly. If only Dublin had received the memo – Rule 1: trying to get the ball off another player from behind is likely to end up in a free-kick- Madness!

The Dubs just didn’t get it and kept fouling all game long. The crazy thing was Mayo couldn’t hit a barn door from play. The only good news is we have another match to look forward to this weekend. With a balance of -19 units, guess who the punter is backing this weekend?

GAA All Ireland Senior Football Championship Semi Final Replay

Dublin v Mayo, Croke Park –Saturday, 5.00pm

Recent Championship Meetings:
2015: Dublin 2-12 Mayo 1-15 (All Ireland semi final)
2013: Dublin 2-12 Mayo 1-14 (All-Ireland final)
2012: Mayo 0-19 Dublin 0-16 (All-Ireland semi-final)

Dublin simply have to play better this weekend. There is a lot of room for improvement. Without Connolly it will be harder. But the talent is there. Cluxton and plenty of others will play better. The value is also present with the bookies offering a very generous 10/11 on Dublin in match betting. Mayo do not have the firepower to live with Dublin. I believe the draw last week was the best result for Dublin. After an uncompetitive summer, they will benefit from playing tough tight games. I can see Dublin going on to win Sam. I still believe.

12 units Dublin to win 10/11

GAA All Ireland Senior Hurling Championship Final

Kilkenny v Galway, Croke Park – Sunday 3.30.

Here we go… The Black and Amber army march on. At first glance this will be a straightforward win for the Cats. Job done…

But… The reality is Kilkenny have not been tested this season. The Leinster final was a relatively easy win and I am reticent to base a prediction on one game. Galway are a much better side and are improving with every game. They are battle harded and hurting – a combination I like. Similar to the Dubs, competitive games will give Galway the upper hand. At 9/4 Galway are excellent value.
