Reports: Ciaran Sheehan is progressing well Down Under

Former Cork forward Ciaran Sheehan seems to be progressing since his recent switch to Aussie Rules.

The 23-year old is currently lining out for Carlton Blues’ reserve side, the Northern Blues, who compete in the Victorian Football League.

Sheehan has become accustomed to playing in a more defensive role for the Northern Blues and last weekend he impressed despite receiving a 44-point hammering by Essendon.

In just his seventh game in the sport, his coach Luke Webster was happy with the Eire Og man’s all-round contribution.

“He’s progressing really well,” Webster said.

“He’s a kid that really wants to soak up everything that he can get his hands on.

“We started him forward and now we’ve played him back and he’s been really good down there and made some really good decisions.

“He’s still continuing to learn and develop his own game but I thought (on Saturday) he defended really well and tried to give us some run and kicking skills off half-back.”
