Walsh Placed on Long-term Injury List

Tommy Walsh has been put on the Sydney Swans long-term injury list as his recovery from a horrific hamstring injury last June heads into its ninth month.

The announcement was made by AFL spokesman Patrick Keane on twitter this morning, and means that Walsh can be replaced on the senior squad by a rookie player for the duration of the injury who would be otherwise ineligible to play, although the Swans have yet to do so.

With Walsh having reiterated his love of Gaelic games over the new year, this news will likely be seen as a further boost to the prospect of the Kerry native returning home in the not too distant future, particularly amongst Kerry fans still reeling from the loss of Colm Cooper for the season due to an ACL injury.
